Paint Your Own Pottery
Painting Process
The Hive and Honeycomb offers paint-your- own-pottery, either in-house with us or as a take-home kit. Available anytime we are open, we have a large selection of pre-made bisque pieces and a well-stocked paint station, so your creative options are limitless! No special table booking or advance notice is required, tables are first-come, first-seated.
Prices vary by piece, between $20 – $45.
Painted pieces will be glazed and fired, and your beautiful shiny creation will be available for pick-up within 14 days. We aren’t able to make individual calls out when they come back, so please refer to the date stamped on your white sheet for pick-up date!
STEP 1 – PICK A PIECE OF POTTERY
There’s so much to choose from! We carry all sorts of pottery designs, and new shapes arrive regularly. Whether you’re looking for a mug, dinner plate, a vase, a fairy, or a shark, we’ve got all sizes and shapes of pottery to paint. Prices vary by piece, between $20 – $45.
When you’ve picked out your piece, one of our staff will explain how the paints work and you can get started on your masterpiece.
STEP 2 – CHOOSE YOUR COLOURS
We have over 50 non-toxic, bright colours to choose from, and our large tile colour samples show you what each colour will look like with 1, 2 or 3 coats, once it’s fired in the kiln. All our colours are compatible with each other, so you can mix and match.
STEP 3 – SIT DOWN TO PAINT OR GRAB A TO-GO KIT!
Brushes and painting supplies will be provided, as well as tips and tricks to make the most out of your piece!
If you are staying to paint, we have a full food and drink menu for you to enjoy during your stay 🙂
If you are grabbing to-go, get ready to get creative, paint at your own speed and in your own space!
STEP 4 – FIRE EM’ UP
When you’re finished, simply leave your piece with us and we will give you a timeframe for pickup.
Please allow up to 2 weeks for your piece to be ready. Note that we do not make calls out – please refer to your white sheet for the date your piece will be available for pick-up!
